I just finished my advanced copy of K A Linde’s Cruel Fortune. It’s the second book in a 3 book series. We were left off with a huge cliffhanger after the first book and I could not wait to dive into this second book and it was amazing. The book started out sweet with an unexpected twist I didn’t see coming and I didn’t like it at first but after finishing the book and reading the epilogue it makes perfect sense and I love the twist now! I know this is very vague but trust me, you don’t want me to spoil the twist.
Natalie is back in New York city, one year after leaving with a broken heart after being betrayed by the man she loved. Her career was on track and things were falling into place and she was starting to finally get over her heartache and move on. She was always dead set on never becoming part of the upper east side but her new relationship and friendship was putting her front and center. Can she handle the upper east side life and not let it consume her, to be apart of it on her terms or will she find herself still apart of the game that ruined her the first time?
I loved this book. It didn’t go at all how I was anticipating with Natalie getting back with Penn and I was disappointed at first, I really wanted Natalie and Penn to find their way back to each other, especially after how things ended with them in Cruel Money. Natalie comes back to New York but ends up in a relationship with someone you least expect, still hurt by Penn and his Crew and how they played her. We aren’t left with a cliffhanger in Cruel Fortune but we are set up perfectly for Book 3, Cruel Legacy and the anticipation is going to kill me.
This is a must read book and a definite 5 star read!
